Saudi Arabian SBL round 20 best performance: Kelechi Ajukwa (by Hoops Agents)- March 20, 2023
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 41 points and 14 rebounds, while his team outclassed Deba (#9, 5-15) with 28-point margin 89-61. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Al Ansar is placed at 11th position in Saudi Arabian SBL. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 17 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Ajukwa had a remarkable 68.2% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Al Ansar, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Kelechi Ajukwa averages this season 29.0ppg and 8.8rpg. The second best player in last round's games was young American Antonio Campbell (206-F-1994) of league's second-best Al Nassr. Campbell had a very good evening with a double-double of 28 points and 14 rebounds. Of course Al Nassr cruised to a 72-63 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Al Salam (#8, 7-13). Al Nassr's second position in the standings has not changed. His team belongs to top of the standings with 18-2 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Campbell is a newcomer at Al Nassr, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was Russian forward Andrey Semenov (200-F-1990) of Al Adalah (#10). Semenov showcased his all-around game by recording 24 points, nineteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. Despite Semenov's great performance Al Adalah lost 73-80 to Al Ansar (3-17). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Semenov has individually a great season in Saudi Arabia. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.5ppg (7th best) and rebounds with 12.7rpg (6th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Dewayne Jackson (203-F-1990) of Al Wehda - 28 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists 5. Clinton Chapman (208-F/C-1989) of Al Hilal - 27 points and 16 rebounds 6. James Justice (178-PG-1989) of Ohod - 36 points and 3 rebounds 7. Nick Stover (198-F-1993) of Al Salam - 27 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Mohamed Harat (198-F-1990) of Al Fateh - 27 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Nasser Alabsi (183-G-1993) of Al Hilal - 27 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists 10. Unique McLean (188-G) of Deba - 25 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
